Portland, Oregon. (Dec. 1) – UAA senior Elaina Mack was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the second time this season Monday, following a pair of high-scoring performances.

The 5-8 guard averaged 27.5 points – shooting 23 of 42 from the field and 8 of 20 on three-pointers – 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 blocks as UAA swept home games against UC Merced. Mack’s 30 points in Friday’s 93-80 victory came on 12-of-21 shooting (6-13 3FG) and marked a career high against a fellow NCAA Div. II opponent, along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals over a game-high 37 minutes. In the rematch, the King Cove native had 25 points (11-21 FG, 2-7 3FG), 11 rebounds (also a career high vs a D-II foe), three assists, no turnovers and career-high 4 blocks as UAA earned a 100-58 rout. She also contributed to a Saturday effort that saw UAA commit only five turnovers – just one off the program single-game best.

β€œFor Elaina there’s a lot of pride that comes with putting on the UAA jersey, and she set the tone for us this past weekend,” said UAA head coach Matt Thune. β€œShe made plays when we needed them and brought an energy that others could feed off. Elaina is consistent, fearless and is all about the team, and it is great to see her recognized for her efforts.”

Mack has risen to fifth place on UAA’s career list with 189 three-pointers, just two shy of fourth place and on pace to threaten the school record of 239.

Mack and the nationally ranked Seawolves (7-0) travel for their Great Northwest Athletic Conference openers this week, facing Saint Martin’s on Thursday (4:15 p.m.) and Western Oregon (1 p.m.) on Saturday. Find live links (video PPV) at .
