Check Your Financial Aid Status

Once you have submitted your FAFSA, you will need to regularly check on UAOnline and your UAA student email account for important notifications and next steps to take.

On this page:

UAOnline Financial Aid

allows you to view overall status, holds, academic progress, cost of attendance, financial aid offers, and important messages.

Email Communications

The Financial Aid Office will communicate with you primarily through your UAA student email account. If you would like to designate a non-UAA email account as your preferred email account, you must request this through UAOnline.

Federal Verification

Every year, about 20% of students are selected to complete a verification process where their information is double-checked for accuracy. If you are selected for verification, the UAA Office of Financial Aid will email you and post on your UAOnline account what additional documentation you need to provide. This additional documentation requires completing an online Verification Worksheet to which you attach your IRS tax return transcripts. You may also need to submit:

  • Information related to untaxed benefits such as social security or military housing (for those who are active duty only)
  • Documentation of family size
  • Receipt of Food Stamps and child support paid
  • Any other documents that may be needed for your specific situation

We compare this information with the data you reported on the FAFSA. If there are discrepancies, we must then correct the data and transmit it to the Department of Education, and await a new response regarding your financial aid eligibility.

Your financial aid will not be awarded until the verification process is complete.

Once you submit all required documentation, you can track your verification status through UAOnline. Once your verification is processed, you will receive an email within seven business days, notifying you to view and accept your award offer in UAOnline.

Tips for the Verification Process

  • Carefully review the instructions and submit additional documentation as soon as possible.
  • Only submit the documentation and forms specified in the instructions.
  • Ensure that your UAID number is on each page of all documents you submit.

Deadlines

To ensure you receive an award package before the payment deadline, you must submit all pertinent verification documents prior to July 15 of the academic year in which you are applying. You may still turn in documents after July 15, but we cannot guarantee your award package will be processed before the payment deadline. The deadline to submit completed verification documents is the last business day in August.

FAQ

  • During the verification process, I needed to make a change to my FAFSA, what should I expect now?
If a verification resulted in making changes to your FAFSA, you will receive an email from the U.S. Department of Education with a new response with your verified eligibility.
  • I was not initially selected for verification but then I made changes to my FAFSA and was subsequently selected for verification. What does this mean?
Students that are not initially selected for verification may be selected after they make changes to their FAFSA. If this happens, any financial aid previously awarded will be canceled until the verification process is complete. There is no guarantee that the equivalent types and amount of financial aid will be available when you are repackaged.
  • I've been selected for verification and filed IRS taxes, how do I send in my Tax Return Transcript?
    1. Your will show you what documents you need. If we鈥檙e requesting a tax return transcript, you must upload it and attach it to your Verification Worksheet (the link to your Verification Worksheet is in UAOnline). If you鈥檙e a dependent student and we鈥檙e requesting your parent鈥檚 tax transcript, your parent will attach their tax return when they complete their portion of the electronic Verification Worksheet.
    2. Your financial aid administrator will compare information on these documents and make corrections to your FAFSA as necessary. Once completed, UAA will proceed to packaging resources available for your use.
    3. Continue to check your Financial Aid Status on UAOnline and UAA email frequently. After reviewing your verification paperwork, we may request additional information in order to resolve conflicting information or other issues with your FAFSA.
