2024-25 Alumni of Distinction honored during annual celebration

Nearly 150 alumni and supporters packed the Fine Arts Building Recital Hall on the Anchorage campus to honor the most recent Alumni of Distinction while reconnecting with their hometown university and raising funds to benefit UAA programs and scholarships.

UAA announces 2025 ConocoPhillips ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Arctic Science and Engineering Endowment Award recipients

As the nation’s only Arctic state, ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ faces unique challenges and environmental conditions unlike anywhere else in the United States. Faculty and students at the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ continue to drive research that tackles regional challenges in practical ways, such as studying earthquake hazards, wildfire vulnerability and more.

Maria Bourne

Accounting alumna and 2024-25 Alumni of Achievement Maria Bourne is the president and CEO of Denali Universal Services. Under her leadership, the company expanded to over 1,100 employees across six states, with 30% of its business now operating outside of ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ.

E. Ingrid Goodyear

Education leadership alumna and 2024-25 Alumni Humanitarian E. Ingrid Goodyear is the missing or murdered Indigenous persons regional coordinator for the Great Plains and ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ at the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ. One of only five regional MMIP coordinators in the country, she works to address the disproportionately high rates of violence and disappearances that Indigenous people face in the United States.

Iuliia Chepurko

General management alumna and 2024-25 Alumni Emerging Leader Iuliia Chepurko is the director of program and project standards at GCI. In this capacity, she standardizes project management methodologies across departments, ensuring that projects are executed with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

Eight UAA alumni named Top Forty Under 40 in 2025

The ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Journal of Commerce released its annual list of the top young professionals in the state. Representing Anchorage, UtqiaÄ¡vik, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kodiak and Palmer, the 2025 Top Forty Under 40 recipients exemplify excellence in professional and community service.

The Anchorage ATHENA Society has announced its Class of 2025 inductees, which include UAA alumni Kate Consenstein, B.A. ’11; Melanie Osborne, B.A. ’96; and Jennifer Schrage, B.A. ’93.

UAA School of Education awarded state grants to strengthen ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ’s education workforce

UAA's School of Education hosts an open house to showcase its new literacy lounge and office space in the Professional Studies Building.

Three new grants totaling $133K from the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Department of Education and Early Development will help UAA’s School of Education support apprentice educators in Kodiak, update apprenticeship coursework and launch a leadership initiative in partnership with the University of ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓƵ Southeast.
