UAA College of Business and Public Policy announces 10th AI webinar: Dr. Satish Viswanath to present 'The Case of the Hidden Signatures: Designing Imaging AI to Bridge Patterns, Predictions & Precision Medicine'
by Green & Gold News |
Anchorage, 熊猫在线视频 鈥 October 21, 2025 - The College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) at UAA is proud to announce the 10th installment in its groundbreaking AI series, featuring Dr. Satish Viswanath, associate professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Biomedical Engineering at Emory University, and previously co-director of the Center for AI Enabling Discovery in Disease Biology and previously, co-director, Center for AI Enabling Discovery in Disease Biology and member of the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Titled 'The Case of the Hidden Signatures: Designing Imaging AI to Bridge Patterns, Predictions and Precision Medicine,' the webinar will take place on Nov. 5, 2025 at the UAA Consortium Library and online via Zoom, and continues CBPP鈥檚 commitment to exploring the frontiers of artificial intelligence, innovation and impact.
AI thought leadership at CBPP since 2019
Since its inception, the CBPP AI series 鈥 developed and led by Dr. Helena Wisniewski 鈥 has contributed to positioning CBPP as a leader in AI research, education and public engagement at UAA.
Over the past several years, the series has hosted AI leaders and innovators from across academia, industry and government to discuss how AI is reshaping business, healthcare and society. The upcoming event with Dr. Viswanath marks the 10th program in the series, underscoring CBPP鈥檚 role in advancing AI literacy and collaboration across disciplines.
A new era for imaging AI
Until now, artificial intelligence has achieved success in diagnosing diseases such as cancer from medical images like mammograms and CT scans. Dr. Viswanath鈥檚 pioneering work represents the next frontier鈥攄eveloping imaging AI that helps clinicians select the right treatment for each patient.
By bridging imaging, pathology, and molecular data, his AI methods uncover the 鈥渉idden signatures鈥 of disease, enabling a new level of precision medicine that is interpretable, predictive, and personalized.
鈥淲e are entering an era where artificial intelligence is not only capable of detecting disease but of helping us understand it,鈥 said Dr. Satish Viswanath, the featured speaker.
鈥淏y designing imaging AI that can interpret patterns tied to patient biology and outcomes, we are taking a critical step toward precision medicine that鈥檚 both personalized and clinically actionable.鈥
鈥淎t UAA, we are deeply proud that CBPP continues to lead the way in advancing AI innovation
and education,鈥 said Dr. Helena Wisniewski, Marion Porter Endowed Chair, department
chair and co-founder of ADSAIL who leads AI initiatives at CBPP. 鈥淭his 10th installment
of our series
demonstrates how innovations in AI can bridge technology and human health for real-world
impact.鈥
鈥淗osting this milestone event is a testament to the vision and leadership within our college,鈥 said Dr. Terry Nelson, Dean of the College of Business and Public Policy. 鈥淒r. Viswanath鈥檚 insights into imaging AI reflect exactly the kind of interdisciplinary dialogue we champion at CBPP鈥攚here business, technology and human advancement intersect.鈥
Building on this foundation, the Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (ADSAIL) was established at CBPP to further advance innovation, research and real-world applications of AI and data science. Together, with tis AI programs and courses, the AI series and ADSAIL have strengthened CBPP鈥檚 reputation as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration and technological innovation in 熊猫在线视频 and beyond.
