Get Started in Ultra

Course Technologies

As a UAA student, you have access to many types of technology tools. Use this section to learn more about the technologies we support across our courses.

    Blackboard

    is the main online space for all UAA courses. For 2025-26, our courses will be a mix of the old Original course view and the upgraded Ultra view. In Fall 2026, all UAA courses will be in Ultra. Your instructor will tell you if you are using Ultra or Original, but if you aren鈥檛 sure:

    Kaltura is a video recording, sharing, and viewing platform, similar to YouTube, but requires a UA login.. Instructors may use Kaltura to post videos for you to watch. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox to view Kaltura videos. If you have difficulty watching Kaltura videos, contact IT Services for help. For more information about using Kaltura to record and share videos, take a look at the .

    VoiceThread

    VoiceThread is a platform for asynchronous discussions on slides, images, and video presentations. Your instructor may use it to post mini-lectures, host discussions, or assign student presentations. VoiceThread can only be accessed through Blackboard. Take a look at site for general assistance, or call IT Services for additional help.

    Publisher content

    Many instructors link to textbooks and publisher learning platforms. For help with these, use the platform鈥檚 help portal.

  • Zoom

    Zoom

    With your UA login, you have access to claim a Zoom pro account. Follow the instructions to activate your account, download the app, and learn to use it. If your course uses Zoom for class meetings or office hours, your instructor will provide a link in Blackboard.

    eWolf ePortfolio

    eWolf is UAA's ePortfolio tool. An ePortfolio is a digital space that can include a variety of media, such as text, graphics, images, documents, videos, and audio where items are gathered and curated, with a certain purpose and audience in mind. Some instructors, courses, and programs use these to encourage reflection on the learning process and demonstrate your learning and mastery across a project. Other resources can be found on the .

    Academic Integrity

    Academic integrity is a basic principle that requires students to take credit only for ideas and efforts that are their own. Cheating, plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty are defined in the .

    Instances of cheating, plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty will first go through the student conduct process and then, if a violation of the Student Code of Conduct is found, academic sanctions may occur in addition to disciplinary sanctions.     The UAA Learning Commons is located on the first floor of the UAA/APU Consortium Library. The Learning Commons offers student learning support resources for all UAA students, including a math lab, writing center, academic coaching center, tutoring in select subjects, and on-campus computer labs and study areas. Many of their services are available virtually.

    Test Proctoring

    Test proctoring ensures that test takers adhere to testing guidelines and prevents academic dishonesty. Test Proctoring is done in a variety of ways at UAA. If you are eligible for disability-related accommodations on tests, please contact Disability Support Services for support.

    Textbooks and Course Materials

    Students are responsible for accessing required course materials. Before courses start, you can see what materials are required by checking the UAA Online Bookstore (all campuses). Print orders take time to ship, so order materials early if possible. Once the course is available in Blackboard, check the syllabus for information on required materials.

    Career Services offers all UAA students and alumni career advising, job and internship opportunities, professional development resources, and networking events to help students and alumni explore their options and prepare for what comes next.
