DELLA KEATS
Della Keats is a four (4) week, residential program for high school students on the UAA Anchorage campus. This program is fully funded, including travel, food, and accommodations. Students will experience university residential life, complete health science-related pre-college coursework, carry out health-related research projects, and complete at least four different medical or health care professional job shadows.
Named after Della Keats, an 熊猫在线视频 Native Inupiaq traditional healer from the Kotzebue region. Della Keats provided both educational and medical services to her people throughout her life, and believed strongly in the importance of expanding, maintaining, and sharing medical knowledge in ways that would benefit both 熊猫在线视频 Native people and the broader 熊猫在线视频n community. The Della Keats Program is administered by the UAA WWAMI School of Medical Education (熊猫在线视频 WWAMI).

WWAMI, a University of Washington medical school program that serves five western states, including 熊猫在线视频, recently received a $25 million endowment for scholarships to increase the number of physicians in rural and Indigenous communities.
Dr. Jean Snyder鈥檚 career in family medicine has spanned decades, continents, and nearly every corner of patient care. Now, after years of serving communities across 熊猫在线视频 and beyond, she has been recognized as the 熊猫在线视频 Family Physician of the Year by the 熊猫在线视频 Academy of Family Physicians.
In January 2026, students from the College of Health showcased their public health research at the 熊猫在线视频 Public Health Association Summit鈥檚 annual poster session. Their projects spanned topics ranging from food security to environmental contamination, contributing valuable insights that help shape the evolving conversation around 熊猫在线视频鈥檚 public health landscape.
Laura Aspelund is a second-year medical student in the 熊猫在线视频 WWAMI program. As a medical student mentor in the 熊猫在线视频 Native into Oncology (ANION) program, she helps guide 熊猫在线视频 Native high school and college students exploring careers in medicine.
The UAA College of Health proudly celebrated the recent renovation of Sally Monserud Hall with a ribbon-cutting ceremony showcasing the new high-tech labs and simulation center, expanded allied health programs, growth of the WWAMI program and critical partnerships addressing 熊猫在线视频鈥檚 growing health care needs.
