Biography

Vanessa Meade, PsyD, LCSW (she/her), is an associate professor at the University of ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµ Anchorage School of Social Work.

Dr. Meade is a licensed clinical social worker and psychologist in ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµ. She is also a U.S. Army/Gulf War Veteran and a former ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµ State Trooper. She has also worked as a clinician/therapist in rural community mental health agencies and juvenile justice programs in ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµ.

She is a certified mindfulness teacher who facilitates mindfulness-based programs at UAA for students, faculty, and staff, as well as for military veterans and wildland firefighters through online and multi-day residential retreat programs throughout the United States. She serves on several state and national advisory committees and boards. Dr. Meade also focuses on equity and social justice in her work, including within the LGBTQ+ community.
