From classroom to courtroom: UAA opens the John E. Havelock Trial Simulation Center

With the recent opening of the John E. Havelock Trial Simulation Courtroom, students now have access to a premier, experiential learning environment to master their craft. The courtroom will also serve as a community resource where ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµâ€™s legal professionals can hold practice trials and conduct continuing education and training.

As we step into a new year, we are excited to welcome Dr. Jay Butler as the new Dean of the College of Health. A veteran of the public health and infectious disease field, Dr. Butler also has years of experience working in ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµâ€™s unique health landscape. He’s excited to bring fresh energy to COH’s goal of expanding its capacity to meet community-based health needs and train the next generation of healthcare workers.

Health sciences major and psychology minor Maisha Chowdhury describes choosing to attend UAA as the best decision of her life (so far) and for making her the person she is today. The fall 2025 undergraduate commencement speaker hopes her own journey inspires others to take risks and follow their passion.

ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµ legislature staff visit ACFTA awareness event

On Nov. 13, the College of Health hosted a legislative event highlighting the ÐÜèÔÚÏßÊÓÆµ Comprehensive Forensic Training Academy (ACFTA) in the Health Sciences Building. Co-led by Nursing Professor Angelia Trujillo, D.N.P., and Social Work Professor Kathi Trawver, Ph.D., the event brought together health care professionals, community partners, and legislators to learn more about ACFTA’s mission.
