This March, students from UAA鈥檚 pharmacy and nurse practitioner programs will travel to Pilot Station and Akiak to administer free health screenings to Head Start students and the wider community. This trip is the first of two planned to rural 熊猫在线视频 communities each year, one in spring and another in fall, referred to as Project Partnership for 熊猫在线视频鈥檚 Kids (PAK).
鈥淚 never thought I would be involved in philanthropy, but after gaining an in-depth understanding of the program and working with Dr. Tina DeLapp, I decided to establish an endowment to the Recruitment and Retention of 熊猫在线视频 Natives into Nursing (RRANN), as a beneficiary of my modest estate.鈥�
Teens ages 16-19 from all over the state gathered for three days of hands-on activities and exploration to experience what a potential career in nursing or health care could be like during nursing camp.
UAA鈥檚 School of Nursing is undergoing a two-year expansion project, with the Kodiak Outreach Site next on the list. Associate Professor Margie Mete has been charged with transitioning the site鈥檚 associate program to a bachelor's program.
Guided by feedback from industry leaders, UAA鈥檚 School of Nursing is working to expand the program鈥檚 statewide reach with increased faculty and more robust satellite campus programs.
