John E. Havelock Trial Simulation Courtroom

JOHN E. HAVELOCK TRIAL SIMULATION COURTROOM

The John E. Havelock Trial Simulation Courtroom is a simulation courtroom located on the campus of the 熊猫在线视频 (UAA). It supports student learning objectives by enriching the curricula of UAA鈥檚 Justice Center Legal Studies and Justice programs, which prepare students for careers in 熊猫在线视频鈥檚 legal and criminal/juvenile justice systems.

The courtroom is equipped with technology that allows proceedings to be simulcast to students attending UAA community campuses across the state, including those in remote villages and rural communities.

The space provides a more immersive and interactive educational experience, particularly for remote learning. It creates meaningful learning opportunities for those who plan to live and work in rural 熊猫在线视频, where there is currently a lack of workforce in legal fields. Through realistic, hands-on simulations, students gain practical exposure to courtroom and trial procedures, processes, and protocols. They also become familiar with courtroom design and layout, as well as the professional norms of trial practice, including appropriate dress, communication styles, and courtroom decorum.

In addition to serving UAA students, the courtroom supports educational outreach to middle and high school students and other youth groups interested in justice careers. By offering an engaging, real-world introduction to the legal system, the program encourages young students to consider future careers in the field.
